The Reverend Eric D. Beggs This EP is an unapologetic, full frontal assault, yet equally vulnerable and raw. Not only raw in aggression, but raw with each emotion that the artist invokes in intricate detail. Ritualistic-Industrial at its finest. I certainly look forward to a scrying and using this as my psychodramatic catalyst. I told my friend that this is an uncensored “Audio Documentation of Entropy”. Much move and respect. Favorite track: Flesh of the World (Ruthless Objects).

in aether, in acid out estuary spit seeing that everybody gods of the world and mankind says that nothing existed prior to chaos i, in distinction to them shall demonstrate that they are all mistaken because they are not acquainted with the origin of chaos nor with its root here is the demonstration birth me in laquer stubborn to form that wet light from the bone as the marrow weeps as the marrow weeps tidal mouth out of me – spit as the marrow weeps wet light, runs clear as the fear borne into me what comes first the pain or the fear of it what comes first the fear the fear once the body fails and there’s only a holy static will i survive it’s broadcast back down and through back down and through

no, you you’re just something to exist against a surface, a bearing, white tooth-slick in my ether tooth-slick in my ether of spite (on wet sheets) next to a body marked and faking, it’s flesh over what weapon it breaks (on wet sheets) body, of white body of white, body of white – lies white lies a high contrast and gloss on the blood gloss on the blood my body a body now again my body a body now again dug under me, a subtraction at the angles worn in repetition as whips on skin (against – wet tooth – slick, set) a lie (set tooth – against – set the teeth – wet, against) no, you

i called you, down are you there? down through the false god-god down through the demigod-god gods a dead line – like you aborted the world earth from confusion water from terror air from grief and all i know is the vacancy between my hands and my mouth you know what that’s like? that effort always before me it’s merciless waste no you the only thing preceding me is my hunger now more and more now more and more and so now what
i’m supposed to fucking love myself? ………… like i don’t like kissing much, sustained like i’m hungry much, and unhappy in that narrow attention that slips between breath against skin no no you show me breath against skin flesh of the world flesh of the world that i hate i know, those who feel pain need to be right and i know, i feel pain because i need to be right but not you, flesh of the world no punishment for recursive sex all my modular lovers, of flesh a narrow attention deconstructed permission to become deconstructed permission to become ruthless objects
4.
love, me love for, me blood-raw – against – the need
a wound – the need – against blood-raw – against – the need – a wound
it drips – a breath – red-word – against – the need
a wound – blood-raw – it drips – against to cut, and bleed my love, to sleep a sin against the need to speak for god and i watch from that wound as the red-word drips un-skinned blood-raw
5.
mirror – sliver –cut lie / lies cut it / cut it to speak an ache, a blind arc around a gun sight closed circuit closed circuit of pursuit i sucked wet-light off the ash of dawn paid in pain the dawn my hunger died what’s the taste – is it bitter darker, night the body is the body is what it resists

about

Gloss on the Blood is Ox Hunger’s first demo/EP. It draws on medieval mysticism and Gnostic origin stories to construct and anchor a practice for working with themes of body horror and dysmorphia, as anger/desire contend and stutter into something gnawing at the edge of legibility.

about

Ox Hunger Portland, Oregon

An experiment in post-industrial doom charting the dynamic between raw horror and breathless desperation at the site of the body, reeling through dirge to brutalist dance music, pulling structure out of noise.
